Stren "J" Knot

Stren "J" Knot Perfect For Joining Braid to Mono Line
1.Lay the line and leader alongide each other, overlapping about 12 inches.
2.Treating the two like a single line, tie an overhand knot, pulling the entrire leader through the loop.
3.Lerve the loop of the overhand knot open, pull the ends of both line and leader through the bottom of the over-hanging loop, and then through the top again.(For a mono leader to braid connection, pull the tag ends through the bottom once agin.
4.Holding both lines and both ends, begin to draw the knot slowly and evenly. If the knot appears to have loose sec-tions affer the initial draw down, be sure to pull the loose ends tightly into the knot. Make sure the knot is tight and commpact by pulling all ends snugly.
5.Trim ends closely.

Spider Hitch Knot

1. Double plenty of line, then form a centre loop, allowing for a long loop end.
2. Hold centre loop between finger and mid-thumb as shown.
3. Wrap loop end over front of thumb and behind centre loop next to union of thumb and finger.

4. Continue wrapping, a total of five times, then pass remainder of loop end through centre loop. Slowly pull loop end away until all five turns have unwound off thumb.
5. Holding both double lines on each side of knot, draw up firm making sure no loose loops form, then pull main line and tag alternately while holding loop end. Trim tag.

Uni knot

1. Pass plenty of line through eye, double back against main line and form a loop as shown.
2. Wind tag end over doubled line and through loop five times (less wraps for heavy, more for light line).
3. Moisten well, draw knot firm but not tight, by pulling tag end.

4. Using fingers, slide knot down to the eye. Tighten and trim.

Palomar Knot

1. Pass plenty of doubled line through eye.
2. Form an overhand knot on doubled main line, but don’t tighten, letting the hook or swivel hang freely.
3. Pass hook end completely over hook or swivel and hold main line and tag end together and pull up.
4. Moisten, tighten and trim.

The Dropper Loop

This loop can be tied anywhere along the length of line for the attachment of a hook or leader. Especially useful for bottom bashing paternoster style rigs.

Step1

Make a generous loop in your line where the dropper is to be tied, then pull out a section of the loop so that it crosses over  the main line at one side forming a second smaller loop.

Step2

Begin twisting the smaller loop, alternating the twisting and holding between hands.

Step 3

Make 4 complete twists (8 half twists) when using monofilament and six complete twists (12 half twists) when using gelspun lines. Then thread the larger loop through the smaller loop which you have been twisting.

Step 4

Put the larger loop around  a peg or the like and gently tension the line both sides of the knot until it pulls up nicely. Paticular care needs to be taken with this step when using gelspun or the line can be sheared off at either side of the knot

Step 5

The finished loop is neat and of adequate strength for the majority of fishing situations.

Clinch Knot

This is undoubtedly the strongest knot for tying a medium size hook to a medium size line such as hook size 4 to 4/0 onto line size 3-15kg

Step 1.

Thread the eye of the hook with the line.

Step 2.

And make an extra wrap

Step 3.

Then wrap the tag around the main line 3 to 5 times. The heavier the line you are using, the less number of wraps. The lighter the line, the more wraps you use

Step 4.

Complete the knot by passing the tag back through the first 2 wraps you made before pulling the knot tight. The best result is achieved when the loops through the eye of the hook retain their wrapping sequence and don't spring apart.

1.             Step 1 - click to enlargeStep 1. Double the last few centimetres of the heavier monofilament leader and thread the lighter line through, then around, the resulting loop.

2.             Step 2 - click to enlargeStep 2. Continue wrapping down the loop in the heavier monofilament leader with the lighter line.

3.             Step 3 - click to enlargeStep 3. Make five wraps down the loop then commence wrapping in the other direction, back over the first wraps you made.

4.             Step 4 - click to enlargeStep 4. Complete five wraps in each direction and thread the tag back through the loop alongside the main line.

5.             Step 5 - click to enlargeStep 5. Partially close the know first with gentle pressure on the main line and tag of both leader and line.

6.             Step 6 - click to enlargeStep 6. When the knot begins to tighten, let both the tag of the line, and the tag if the leader, go. Then tighten the knot with firm pressure on line against leader.

7.             Step 7 - click to enlargeStep 7. Close the knot and trim the tags.
